Finding the Right Practitioner for You
Choosing a practitioner is a personal decision. At The Divergent Edge, we want you to feel confident that you’re booking with someone whose services, style, and lived experience align with what you need most.
Step 1: Find The Right Type of Support
Identify the services that best suit your needs. Then, filter them below and consider the titles of the practitioners delivering them to start narrowing down the right match for you.
- Counsellor & Psychotherapist: Best if you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck or emotionally disregulated, and want a safe space to process trauma, burnout, or chronic stress. (Focus on the past: emotional healing & trauma support).
- Therapeutic Coach: Ideal if you’d like both emotional support and practical strategies while working toward focused goals. (Focus on the present: integration & action).
- Coach: Helpful if you’re not in crisis but want structure, accountability, and guidance to build clarity, momentum, or direction in life, work, or relationships. (Focus on the future: growth & goals).
Step 2: Explore Bios, Modalities, and Fit
Go beyond titles. Each practitioner brings unique training, experience, and approaches – but just as important is fit and feel.
Read their bios, accreditations, and modalities in detail, then reflect:
- Do you feel a sense of safety and understanding?
- Does their style or experience resonate with you?
This step helps you refine your match further and choose the practitioner who feels right for you.
Step 3: Additional Layer to Consider
If you still need to narrow down your options, this can be a helpful extra lens when choosing between practitioners.
- Senior Practitioners ($235) – Highly experienced and often working with complex or layered needs, including trauma or challenges that overlap with executive functioning.
- Experienced Practitioners ($180) – Skilled, compassionate, and well-trained professionals offering quality support with strong foundations and greater accessibility.
Both bring lived experience, depth, and professional expertise. The choice is about what feels right for your needs right now. Every practitioner has at least 3-5 years of direct experience, alongside a lived understanding of neurodivergence – so you can trust you’re receiving nuanced, affirming care.
Still Unsure or Need Help Choosing?

Personal Overshare
I grew up in the ‘Gifted and Talented’ streams of the 1990s with a few fixed ideas about myself: I had a vivid imagination, a knack for multiple choice exams, and by age 12, a certainty that I wanted to be a therapist. My Year 12 yearbook even predicted I’d one day be “counselling chronic procrastinators”—a prophecy that felt especially ironic when I was diagnosed with ADHD at 42.
My brain is wired for visual-spatial learning, but with aphantasia, I can’t actually picture things in my mind’s eye. Instead, I sense how things fit and connect, almost like feeling the map rather than seeing it. It took a while to understand this about myself, but it explains my love of systems thinking and creating clarity from complexity.
These days, I’m parenting three neurodivergent kids in a gloriously chaotic blended family, where deep love meets daily logistics and the occasional snack-standoff. I work from home in an ongoing quest for flexibility and that mythical concept of “life balance.” Stress management, for me, looks like a mix of F45 workouts, red wine (ahem… meditation), and bushwalking. Through it all, I bring the same humour, honesty, and lived experience into my work—meeting clients with empathy and helping them embrace their own complexity.

Personal Overshare
I discovered my gifted neurodivergence later in life—a revelation that helped me stop trying to “fix” how I operate and instead embrace it. I’ve always been wired to create structure out of chaos. Give me a tangle of ideas, moving parts, or unclear outcomes, and I’ll happily map, refine, and build systems that actually work. I thrive on making things make sense—especially when it helps people, teams, or communities run more smoothly and feel more seen.
Outside of work, life is its own adventure—complete with noisy neurodivergent kids, two cats, and more logistical puzzles than anyone warned me about. My systematising brain gets a good workout keeping it all vaguely manageable. I’m also hearing impaired, but that’s never stopped me from speaking up—or from dancing enthusiastically (if slightly offbeat) at Mardi Gras. At the core of everything I do is a belief that authenticity and social responsibility aren’t just leadership ideals—they’re the keys to meaningful happiness. For me, success isn’t about hitting external benchmarks; it’s about showing up fully, creating lives that support our true selves, and doing the work that makes life a little better for others.

Personal Overshare
I was diagnosed with ADHD (Combined Type) later in life—which, in hindsight, explained a lot. I’m the (mostly) joyful parent of three wonderfully unique kids, and daily life is a lively mix of conversations, curiosity, and organised chaos.
I’ve always been a lifelong learner with an unshakable love for reading (pretty much anything except instruction manuals or tax law 101). My hobbies are ever-changing and have included cooking, gardening, knitting, painting, dabbling in guitar, learning languages, and launching ambitious creative projects that may or may not ever get finished (ADHD bingo, anyone?). Spending time in nature is one of my greatest sources of calm and clarity—though I don’t do it as often as I’d like. And yes, I unapologetically overuse parentheses (a very ADHD thing). I bring that same humour, insight, and lived experience into my work—helping others feel seen, understood, and empowered… parentheses and all.

Personal Overshare
I was diagnosed with ADHD in my 40s—a moment when everything suddenly clicked into place. All those years of talking (a lot), cramming too much into one day, and getting bored at lightning speed finally made sense. It wasn’t a flaw—it was ADHD. Once I understood that, I realised I could work with my brain, not against it.
These days, I channel that full-hearted, fast-paced energy into both my coaching and my life. When I’m not supporting clients, I’m often surrounded by animals I didn’t exactly plan to acquire—horses, loyal dogs, a few sheep, and one extremely charismatic alpaca. My happy place is out in the wide open, ideally on horseback with the sun on my back and no agenda at all. And yes, you might also find me dancing like nobody’s watching to 90s house music, or soaking up every last drop of daylight outdoors. I bring this grounded yet joyful energy into my coaching, along with a lived understanding of what it means to move through the world with a differently wired brain.

Personal Overshare
Like many late-diagnosed ADHDers, I’ve always had a deep attachment to being “productive”—whether that’s chasing a fascinating idea down a rabbit hole at 2am or diving into new learning that stretches my thinking. And honestly, no one should have to endure housework or emails without the right soundtrack (my playlists swing between lo-fi beats and dramatic classical on repeat).
Parenting three young kids keeps life busy and chaotic, but also full of joy. I’m a proud (sometimes overwhelmed) dad, supported by an incredibly patient wife who tolerates my spontaneous, overly detailed knowledge downloads at inconvenient times. In a past life, I studied graphic and interior design—where I fell in love with art and aesthetics, despite being terrible at drawing. That hasn’t stopped me from staring at art for hours or impulsively buying pieces I don’t need (but definitely love). I bring this mix of energy, humour, curiosity, and lived experience into my work, aiming to help others feel understood, empowered, and just a little more human.

Personal Overshare
I’m a late-identified AuDHDer, and my discovery came while researching the well-being of women diagnosed with ADHD—only to realise I was also describing myself. That turning point lit a fire in me for advocacy, inclusivity, and changing the conversation around neurodivergence. As a woman of colour in this community, I know firsthand how important it is to feel safe, represented, and truly understood.
Outside of practice, I lean into my love of human complexity. True crime documentaries have long been a fascination of mine (one sparked while studying forensic psychology in the Netherlands), and I’m happiest when I’m chasing sunsets or finding sensory-friendly spaces to recharge. I bring this same lived experience, curiosity, and compassion into every session—so clients feel seen, understood, and celebrated exactly as they are.

Darren’s professional path has been as diverse as his therapeutic approach, shaped by previous careers in construction, mining, and musical stage production in London’s West End. This varied background informs his deeply empathetic and adaptable style as a psychotherapist and coach.
Trained in a broad spectrum of therapeutic modalities—including person-centred and psychoanalytic approaches, trauma-focused therapy, existential therapy, and neurodivergent-affirming CBT—Darren tailors his work to meet each client’s needs and communication style. - Developing emotional regulation skills, including managing RSD
- Self-care techniques, energy management, and burnout prevention/recovery
- Neuroscience-informed ADHD coaching strategies to support executive function
- Personal development and self-actualisation
Personal Overshare
While I’m not often the one to “overshare,” when I do, it can bring up some anxiety—mostly because I’ve learned my openness can be seen as eccentric or “too much.” That changes completely in the company of fellow neurodivergent people, where I’ve embraced the freedom of being my full, unmasked self. These experiences have shaped my belief that neurodivergence isn’t something to hide but something to honour. When I mask now, it’s less about protection and more about pacing the radiance of neurodivergent brilliance for those who aren’t quite ready for its full light.
Outside of work, I find balance in simple pleasures and grounding routines. Music has always been a thread in my life, from my time in stage production to the way I now use it as a space for reflection and creativity. I also value quiet time in nature, where I reconnect with myself and recharge. I bring this same mix of openness, depth, and curiosity into my sessions—meeting clients with authenticity and helping them feel safe, understood, and empowered to grow.
