Fees & Funding
We want to make it as clear as possible to access support. This page covers our session fees, the types of practitioners on our team, and the funding pathways available to you, including Medicare, NDIS, JobAccess, and private health rebates.
If you’re unsure what applies to your situation, our reception team can help you work it out before you book.
Understanding Our Practitioner Types
Our team includes different types of practitioners. The type of practitioner affects the kind of support you receive and which funding pathways are available. Here’s what each title means.
Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW)
Accredited Mental Health Social Workers provide counselling and psychotherapy for people experiencing mental health challenges. They are qualified social workers who hold additional accreditation in mental health, and they are eligible providers under the Medicare rebate. This means sessions can be partially covered through a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP.
At TDE, our AMHSWs provide neurodivergent-affirming therapy grounded in evidence-based approaches adapted for how ADHD and autistic nervous systems process emotion, stress, and regulation.
Registered Psychologist
Registered Psychologists provide assessment, therapy, coaching, and supervision services. At TDE, this may include Autism and ADHD assessment, Leadership and ADHD & workplace coaching, Therapeutic coaching, and Supervision. Some discretionary services provided by our psychologists may be eligible for Medicare or private health rebates.
Registered Counsellor & Psychotherapist
Registered Counsellors and Psychotherapists provide counselling, psychotherapy, and therapeutic coaching at TDE. They are registered with professional bodies such as the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) or PACFA. Sessions are not eligible for Medicare rebates, but some private health funds do offer rebates depending on your level of cover and which fund you’re with.
Therapeutic ADHD Coach
Therapeutic ADHD Coaching is a service unique to us. It blends practical ADHD coaching strategies with evidence-based clinical counselling modalities, providing a holistic and integrative service that can flex with you over time relative to your priorities and needs. Our Therapeutic coaching team are qualified mental health practitioners (social workers, counsellors, or psychologists) who bring a multitude of clinical skills, diverse career backgrounds, practical coaching strategies and neuroaffirming psychoeducation and skills building adapted and integrated alongside their own lived neurodivergent experiences.
ICF-Accredited Coach
ICF-accredited coaches provide ADHD coaching, careers and workplace coaching, and leadership coaching. These sessions focus on strengths, goals, and sustainable strategies for professional and personal life.
Coaching sessions are a private fee and are not covered by Medicare or most rebate schemes. However, some coaching services may be funded through JobAccess (EAF) or NDIS, depending on your plan and circumstances.

Assessment Fees
Our assessments have been designed to reflect our commitment to neurodivergent affirming service provision, while incorporating a rigorous and detailed diagnostic clinical assessment, utilising internationally validated standardised tools. They are conducted completely via telehealth. Depending on the type of assessment being provided, they comprise 2-3 separate appointment bookings, of between 2-3hours duration. Non-face-to-face time is spent undertaking clinical data analysis and the provision of a detailed written report. Fees reflect the total hours required by the assessing clinician.
- Adult ADHD diagnostic assessment: $1,700
- Adult Autism diagnostic assessment: $2,200
- Combined ADHD and Autism diagnostic assessment: $2,700
A non-refundable deposit of $440 is required to confirm your assessment booking. Payment plans are available. Please contact reception to discuss. Assessments are available for adults aged 25 and over. Additional costs may apply depending on your circumstances.
Please note: assessment services are not covered under the Medicare Better Access scheme. No Medicare rebate is available for assessments.
Our adult Autism assessments are offered in a modular format relative to your desired outcome (such as confirmation of self-identification, or application for formal benefits or disability support services). This allows us to keep costs relative to your circumstances.
Funding Pathways
There are several ways to access funded or partially funded support at TDE. Here’s how each pathway works.
Medicare (Mental Health Care Plan)
If you have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP, you can access Medicare-rebated counselling sessions with our Accredited Mental Health Social Workers.
- Medicare covers up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year under the Better Access initiative.
- Your GP refers you for an initial 6 sessions. After a review, you can access up to 4 more.
- The Medicare rebate covers a portion of the session fee. The remaining gap is your out-of-pocket cost.
Medicare-rebated sessions are available for people with a diagnosed mental health condition. Many neurodivergent adults access this pathway for co-occurring experiences such as anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, or burnout.
If you don’t have a Mental Health Care Plan yet, your GP can create one with you. It’s one appointment, and you can request a longer session when you book.
NDIS
Several of our practitioners work with NDIS participants who are self-managed or plan-managed. NDIS funding may cover therapeutic supports, including counselling and coaching, depending on your individual plan and goals.
Please contact reception to discuss your plan, and we’ll let you know which practitioners are available and how to set things up.
JobAccess (Employee Assistance Fund)
The Employee Assistance Fund (EAF), through JobAccess, provides financial support for workplace-related services for people with disabilities, injuries, or health conditions, including ADHD and Autism.
EAF funding can be used for workplace coaching and support that helps you function effectively at work. This may include ADHD coaching and/or therapeutic coaching sessions focused on executive function, communication, energy management, and workplace strategies.
If you think you may be eligible, contact our reception team, and we can talk you through the application process.
Private Health Funds
Some private health funds offer rebates for sessions with registered psychologists, accredited mental health social workers, and registered counsellors, depending on your level of cover.
Rebate amounts and eligibility vary between funds. It’s important to check directly with your provider before booking to confirm what’s covered. We can’t guarantee a rebate will apply, as each fund sets its own criteria for which services and professional titles are included.
Please note: therapeutic ADHD coaching and ICF coaching are generally not covered by private health funds.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I see any practitioner without a referral?
Yes. All of our services are available on a private-pay basis without a referral. A referral is only required if you want to access Medicare rebates, in which case your GP will provide one as part of your Mental Health Care Plan.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We ask for at least one full working day’s notice (24hours). Cancellations with less than 24 business hours’ notice will be charged the full session fee. For full details, see our Booking & Cancellation Policy.
Do you offer payment plans?
Payment plans are available for assessments. Please contact reception to discuss your circumstances.
What does "sessional hour" mean?
A sessional hour refers to a standard appointment block, which includes both telehealth session time and brief administrative time (such as notes and follow-up). This is standard across the industry.
Can I claim a rebate for report writing or between-session correspondence?
Professional report writing and support letters are billed at the same rate as the clinician’s sessional time, in 15-minute increments. Lengthy email or phone correspondence between sessions may also be billed. These are not covered by Medicare rebates.
Is couples counselling covered by Medicare?
No. Medicare does not cover couples or family therapy under the Better Access initiative.
Do you offer supervision or consulting services?
Yes. Several members of our team offer clinical supervision in Psychology, Social Work, and Counselling as well as mentoring and coaching for Executives, Leaders and business owners/entrepreneurs. These services are often delivered in a standard sessional format, or in a ‘package’ of support.
Our workplace consulting services are quoted based on the nature of the engagement. Please get in touch with reception to discuss your organisation’s needs and to arrange a quote for training, leadership development, coaching for organisations, writing engagements, public speaking, or conference appearances.
