ADHD Counselling in Brisbane
Reflective, compassionate therapy from neurodivergent counsellors.
Living with ADHD often carries more than the daily challenges. There is the anxiety and depression that often run alongside it, the chronic stress of years spent masking or compensating, the impact of being misunderstood for too long. Our Brisbane counsellors offer space to work through what sits beneath the surface, with neuro-affirming therapy that holds both your neurotype and your full story.
Why Choose The Divergent Edge
You are welcome here
We are a neurodivergent-led practice. We understand how ADHD weaves through identity, emotion, and history. Our counselling is reflective, honest, and paced to suit you. Therapy lands differently when you feel safe enough to bring your full self.

We support ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, twice-exceptionality, giftedness, and high sensitivity, alongside the experiences that often run with them.
Clinically grounded
Our counsellors and Mental Health Social Workers bring rigorous training, clinical experience, and ethical care. You can expect therapy that is paced, considered, and held with steadiness.
Easy to access in Brisbane (and across QLD)
Sessions are online-first with flexible times. You can attend from Brisbane city, the suburbs, regional QLD, or wherever life takes you.
Led by lived experience
Every counsellor here is neurodivergent. We pair clinical depth with lived recognition, so the work doesn’t start with you explaining yourself.
Values first
Neurodivergence is a natural way of being. Our role is to support you in understanding, accepting, and living more fully as yourself.

Process what sits underneath
Counselling offers space to explore anxiety, masking, rejection sensitivity, identity work, chronic stress, and the emotional weight that often runs alongside ADHD. We move at your pace.

Several of our counsellors are Accredited Mental Health Social Workers. With a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates on counselling sessions.
Reach support anywhere in Brisbane and across QLD
Sessions are online-first and designed to fit around your life. Whether you’re in Brisbane, the suburbs, regional QLD, or moving between places, continuity stays steady.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does an ADHD counsellor do?
An ADHD counsellor offers therapeutic support for the emotional, identity, and relational impact of being neurodivergent. Counselling can help you process anxiety, depression, masking, rejection sensitivity, trauma, and the cumulative weight of years lived without recognition. Our counsellors are trained clinicians who bring both professional skill and lived understanding to the work.
How is ADHD counselling different from ADHD coaching?
Coaching focuses on practical strategies for executive function, focus, and daily systems. Counselling focuses on the emotional and psychological work: processing, identity, mental health, and the patterns underneath behaviour. Many clients move between the two over time, and our therapeutic coaching combines elements of both.
Can I get Medicare rebates for ADHD counselling?
Yes, when you see one of our Accredited Mental Health Social Workers with a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP. The plan provides access to up to 10 rebated sessions per calendar year. Ask our reception team about which practitioners are Medicare-eligible and how to set this up.
Do I need a diagnosis to start counselling?
No. You don’t need a formal diagnosis to begin counselling with us. Many clients arrive while still exploring whether ADHD, Autism, or AuDHD describes their experience. If clarity is part of what you’re after, we also offer assessments.
What makes ADHD counselling effective for neurodivergent adults?
Counselling lands differently when the counsellor genuinely understands the territory. Every TDE counsellor is neurodivergent, which means you spend less time explaining and more time doing the work. Our approach is paced, considered, and held with steadiness.
