ADHD Coach for Women
ADHD doesn't exist in a vacuum. Gender, expectations and social context matter.
ADHD can be experienced differently by women, and for many it isn’t recognised until well into adulthood. Years of masking and compensating, life stages and phases, high mental load, caring responsibilities, and the expectation that women should somehow manage it all can make ADHD both harder to recognise and exhausting to navigate.

At The Divergent Edge, our ADHD coaching for women is informed not only by an understanding of neurodivergence, but by psychological, feminist and sociological perspectives. We recognise that our difficulties don’t develop in isolation from the world around us. Gendered expectations, relationships, workplaces, family roles and broader social structures can all shape how women understand themselves.
This can be particularly complex for gifted, highly capable and high-achieving women whose intelligence and ability may have helped them compensate for ADHD for years, often at significant personal cost.
Our ADHD coaches go beyond productivity tips and strategies for getting organised. We work with the whole person: your strengths, values, relationships, parenting, career, and broader health context.
The aim isn’t to help you become better at meeting every expectation placed upon you. It’s to understand what actually works for you, and build a life that makes better use of your strengths without continually requiring you to override your own needs.
Being a woman living with ADHD means dealing with layers that most ADHD support wasn’t built to hold. Late diagnosis, decades of masking, hormonal shifts, mental load, and the “you can’t have ADHD, you’re too capable” assumption keep women unsupported for years. At TDE, we don’t treat being a woman as background context. It’s part of the picture, and our support is built around that.

Why Identity Matters in ADHD Support
Neurodivergent-Led
We know very well how your brain feels like. We tend to notice patterns quickly and get to the point without making you prove anything first.
Practical, With Room For The Emotional Load
A lot of adults with ADHD already know the tips. The hard part is using them when you’re stressed, tired, or overloaded. We provide practical strategies and don’t ignore the self-blame, shame, or exhaustion that often lie beneath the surface.
Flexible Sessions
Some sessions are about tools and next steps. Others need space for burnout, relationship strain, identity issues, or the same stuck points recurring. We work with what’s most relevant for you and your situation.
ADHD With Overlap
ADHD often comes with overlap, like autism (AuDHD), anxiety, burnout, trauma history, PMDD or perimenopause, and masking. We keep the full context in mind, so support doesn’t feel chopped up.
Accountable Care
Our coaches are ICF-accredited and professionally accountable. The work is clinically informed and ethically grounded.
Telehealth From Geelong
Sessions are online via secure telehealth. For most people, it simply makes support easier to keep up with.
ADHD and Womanhood Overlap
Late diagnosis, masking pressure, hormonal fluctuation, caregiving load and the expectation of holding it all together compound ADHD traits for many women in ways standard support rarely accounts for.
When Your Coach Only Sees Half the Picture
A coach who understands executive function but has never thought about what it costs to be the person everyone else relies on is only working with part of your experience. You deserve support that doesn’t require you to leave parts of yourself at the door.
We Bring Lived Experience
We are a neurodivergent-led practice, and most of our team are women with ADHD themselves. That means less time explaining what it’s like, and more time on what you’re actually here for.
What ADHD Support for Women Can Help With
Late Diagnosis and Identity
Many women arrive at ADHD in their 30s, 40s or later, often after a child’s diagnosis, a compensation collapse, or a life stage where everything they used to manage stopped working. We hold the relief, the grief and the recalibration that comes with seeing your life through a new lens.
Masking and People-Pleasing
Women are often socialised early into compliance, social fluency and meeting other people’s expectations. Over decades, that becomes its own layer, and the ADHD sits underneath, unseen. We help you recognise the mask, the cost of wearing it, and what changes when you stop.
Hormones, Cycle and Perimenopause
ADHD symptoms shift with estrogen. The luteal phase, PMDD, postpartum, perimenopause and menopause all interact with the ADHD brain in ways most support ignores. We work with the whole picture, including the parts driven by hormones.
Motherhood and the Mental Load
Parenting with ADHD is hard. Parenting neurodivergent children while managing your own ADHD is harder. Add the mental load women carry by default, and the picture is very specific. We help you build support that matches that reality.
Relationships and Communication
ADHD traits like emotional flooding, RSD, time blindness and communication differences show up in relationships. Add the emotional labour often expected of women, and support needs to account for both the ADHD and the load.
Chronic Stress, Over-Functioning and Burnout
Anxiety, depression, disordered eating and complex trauma co-occur at high rates in women with ADHD. Layer chronic stress from years of holding everything together, and eventually the pattern that looked like “coping” collapses.
How We Work
Therapeutic Coaching
Our signature service blends practical ADHD coaching with clinical counselling, so one session can move between strategies for task initiation and the identity work underneath without splitting those into separate conversations.
Counselling
For women working through trauma, anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, shame or the cumulative impact of years spent unsupported. Medicare-rebated sessions are available with our Accredited Mental Health Social Workers.
ADHD and Autism Assessments
If you suspect there’s more going on than ADHD alone, our assessments look at the full picture, including autism, giftedness and overlapping experiences.
Careers and Workplace Support
Practical coaching for working life as a neurodivergent woman, covering boundaries, workload, communication and the perfectionism-and-people-pleasing patterns that often show up at work.
Training & Consulting Services

Leadership and Business Coaching
Support for neurodivergent women in leadership and business dealing with responsibility, growth and visibility at work. This can include executive coaching, organisational strategy and neuro-inclusive leadership development.

Workplace Neuro-Inclusion
We work with organisations to build neuro-inclusive systems, including training, advisory support, recruitment and onboarding improvements, and changes that help teams work together more effectively.

Clinical Training And Supervision
Training and supervision for practitioners who want neuroaffirming, ethical, clinically informed support. Sessions are tailored to your role, scope and the people you work with.

What Support Often Changes First
The mask starts to lift. You stop curating which version of yourself to bring to each session and start working with someone who already understands the full picture, including the parts you’ve spent decades pretending were fine.

The next step is getting to know the people behind the work. On our team page, you can read about our practitioners, their backgrounds, and how they work, so you can find someone who feels like the right fit for you.
